The history of suits in Japan go over 100 years. In the past, only wealthy people wore suits, and they were all made to order. Even today, wealthier people have they suits made to order by a personal tailor. The process starts from choosing the cloth, and each suit is made to fit its client perfectly.

Japan has long had a history of producing textiles, and its technoological development and high skill is expressed in kimono, Japan's national dress. Even today, the culture of being particular to the level of the material remains strong. 

A single suit goes through over 500 steps of processes to be made. While many suits today are mass-produced in factories, made to order suits are made carefully by skillful artisians. In order to make the best fit possible, each stich is made by hand.
