Tokyo: the new foodie capital of the world

Japanese cuisine is dynamic, diverse and interesting. It’s really worth the travel.
— Jean Luc Naret Michelin Guide director

One of the highlights of travelling is enjoying the local cuisine. While foods from around the world are becoming more available globally, authentic cuisine made by professionally trained chefs with local ingredients is something that can only be experienced at limited places. Many foreigners visit Japan to enjoy a variety of Japanese cuisines.

Tokyo is an city teeming with gourmet food. In fact, the number of Michlin star restaurants has surpassed its number in Paris, making Tokyo the most gastronomic city in the world. Together with other cities such as Osaka and Kyoto, Japan has been leading in the gastronomic competition of the world.

Not only can you find the best Japanese cuisine in Tokyo, but also other cuisine such as French and Chinese. Master chefs have trained abroad, imported techniques from other cultures, and adapted them to the Japanese culture. While these may not be authentic to its origins, they are unique and can only be found in Japan.
